Regarding your preference of the FFS over the HoD sword: when using Zealot's Fire, I personally prefer the sword. When the recharge kicks in for the FFS, it can mess up my timing for maintaining monster aggro.

I personally like to use the FFS (recharge doesnt seem to screw me up that bad). I would suggest that if you HAVE the resources (aka money) to buy a HoD sword, go do it

3 Things:
-Great guide
-With a necromancer secondary, a perfect skill for this is Aura of the Lich. Not only does it cut your hit points in half, but it reduces all damage by 50%, causing you to take 1 damage per hit, unless of course it doesnt stack with prot spirit. Unfortunetly, its an elite.
-What is an HoD sword?

Tsunami nice Guide!!!!!!!! helps alot for the ppl that do not understand how it works, im a experienced 55 but i still enjoy the guide

An HoD = Henge of Denravi , there was a collector that traded stuff for a sword that gave +5 energy, but now, they are extremly rare and cost much, becuz its nerfed,

Still for a 55 u can now get after Release of Factions at the end of the game

A crafter that crafters all kind of weapons that gives +5 energy, so HoD is not so special anymore

I've heard that lots of people use Zealot's Fire and Bonetti's, and I can't really figure out why. I understand that Bonetti's is for energy managment, but why Zealot's Fire? Now I run my 55 with Mesmer secondary instead of Warrior, but I would still never take Zealots Fire. It triggers the "ACK! FLEE! It's AoE!!" thing that all monsters have now. My current skill bar looks like this.

1. Healing Breeze
2. Prot. Spirit
3. Holy Strike/Stonesoul Strike (for when they fall down - extra 116 dmg)
4. Archane Echo
5. SoJ
6. Essence Bond
7. Balthazar's Spirit
8. Mending

6 and 7 are more than enough for energy management. Of course, they use 2 slots instead of the 1 that bonetti's would take up. Which is faster "in general" against, say, melee critters? If timed correctly, I can get 3 Soj's off (although it never takes more than 2) and then if there's a particularily pesky critter in there (say a mesmer or ritualist) you can lay it on him with the holy strike or stonesoul strike. Any thoughts on this?

bonetti's is not only for energy management. It's sometimes saving grace. If you're getting knocked down, etc. and can't cast say, healing breeze, cast bonetti's and you'll have a much better chance of casting it.

as for zealots fire, you use it in moderation. You don't spam your skills or it will trigger the whole AoE thing and spread things everywhere (which could be good if you're about to die). In moderation it just helps you kill things faster than without it.

With essence and Bal's I notice that I never ever ever run out of energy. Is getting 2 energy back per hit really necessary? I've been asking myself this question for a while now. If I just had one of them I could use both Holy Strike and Stonesoul Strike to beat down the baddies alot faster. But, being as I've never put it to practice, I'm not sure that I'd have enough energy with Bal's to keep up to spamming Holy Strike and Stonesoul Strike. Any ideas? Think just Bal's or essence would be enough to keep up? I really like having mesmer secondary just for the archane echo of SoJ. But being as I primarily use my monk to farm, all I'm really looking for is a way to make it more efficient and expedient. (lol, fancy way of saying "quick and easy" )

I dont think you'll be able to spam without essence bond for your build, however, I don't use the build that you use. I dont echo soj nor spam skills while 55ing (hence zealot's fire).
